A British pledge to end the war and find a comprehensive political solution in Yemen

Britain pledged today, Thursday, to continue to support existing efforts to find a comprehensive political solution to the war in Yemen, which has been going on for nearly seven years.

British Ambassador to Yemen Richard Oppenheim said during a virtual call with Foreign Minister Ahmed bin Mubarak that his country supports the efforts of UN envoy Hans Grundberg, while it will continue to work to find a peaceful solution to the conflict, according to the official Saba news agency.

In turn, bin Mubarak stressed the importance of implementing the “Riyadh Agreement” to unify efforts “to confront the Houthis and enable the government to carry out its tasks and provide services to all the people of Yemen.”

He added that “the humanitarian violations committed by the Houthi group in Marib threaten the future of the peace process,” stressing that “the Houthis’ illusions of controlling Yemen through violence and terrorism will not be realized.”
