Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, commented today, Saturday, on Dubai’s winning of hosting the largest museum conference in the world, ICOM 2025.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum wrote on his account on the micro-blogging site “Twitter”: “Dubai’s win to host the largest museum conference in the world, Icom 2025, with the attendance of 119 countries covering 20,000 international museums, giving a strong impetus to the culture sector in the country.”
He added: “Our international museums in our beloved capital and our national museums across all emirates of the country will lead the global debate on the future of museums in this huge international conference.”
Aecom announced on Friday that its advisory board had chosen Dubai as the host city for the organization’s 27th general conference, which will be held in 2025.
The International Council of Museums (ICOM), which was established in 1946 under the umbrella of the United Nations, is a global organization specialized in the field of museums, their development and coordination among them, and its membership includes more than 50,000 specialists from 122 countries, and nearly 20,000 museums around the world.
It is noteworthy that the next 26th ICOM conference will be held in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, in August 2022.
