She explained that the Security Council will listen to the briefing of the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, on the Yemeni crisis, and the results of the consultations he held with the Yemeni parties and regional officials active in the Yemeni issue.
She pointed out that Hans Grundberg will review, in his second briefing since assuming this position, the results of his first tour of the region and the results of his meetings with the parties to the war and officials of the countries of the region.
She noted that the Security Council will discuss, in this session, a number of reports submitted by UN officials on the developments of the humanitarian, political and economic situation, in addition to the developments of the escalating military situation on a number of fighting fronts.
During his first tour, the UN envoy met with officials of the recognized Yemeni government, the Southern Transitional Council, and representatives of the Houthi rebels in Muscat. In addition to his meeting with Saudi and European officials in Riyadh, and officials in the Sultanate of Oman.
