Prince Turki al-Faisal, the former head of Saudi intelligence, revealed the condition of former Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir to King Abdullah to hand over Osama bin Laden while he was in Khartoum.
Al-Bashir’s condition and King Abdullah’s response
Al-Faisal said – as he mentioned in his book “The Afghan File” – that President Al-Bashir offered King Abdullah to hand over bin Laden, but on condition that King Abdullah replied: “What is he?” The former Sudanese president replied: He will not be tried or questioned if we hand him over to you.
Al-Faisal continued, during his arrival as a guest on the “Al-Mawqif” program on the “Saudi” channel, that King Abdullah responded to President Al-Bashir’s condition, saying: We do not appreciate that we have the Shariah of God Almighty, and there is no one above the Sharia and he will be held accountable for what he did. Al-Faisal added that “Al-Bashir” after that fell silent and did not return to the presentation to King Abdullah.
Why was not America able to try bin Laden?
Al-Faisal added that the Sudanese government after that tried to present “Bin Laden” to the Americans, pointing out that America at that time did not have evidence to prove bin Laden’s action against the United States, and therefore if they received him, they would not be able to prosecute him, as stated by President Clinton in his memoirs. .
He pointed out that the global intelligence was dealing with al-Qaeda on the results of its actions and not on the information it received about the possibility of these actions, i.e. not a proactive act, and this is the reason for what he mentioned in his book that al-Qaeda was always two days ahead of global intelligence.
