A Somali official responded to Saudi Arabia’s announcement to reopen its embassy in Mogadishu.

Deputy Minister of Constitutional Affairs, Member of the Somali Federal Parliament, Member of the African Parliament Lutfi Sharif Mohamed, in a tweet on Twitter: “We welcome the reopening of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in our capital Mogadishu, and we affirm that we have rich historical relations between us and the Kingdom.”

He added: “We appreciate the efforts of the Kingdom’s leadership and people in their development participation, which had a tangible positive impact on our people and our nation. We wish the Kingdom and its people continued security, safety and prosperity.”

Earlier, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the reopening of the Saudi embassy in the Federal Republic of Somalia in the Somali capital Mogadishu, according to a statement published by the Saudi Press Agency “SPA”, praising the Somali government’s efforts in facilitating the procedures for reopening the Kingdom’s embassy in Mogadishu. This confirms the depth of relations between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples.

The statement concluded by saying: “It looks forward to strengthening the joint work between the two countries and pushing it towards broader horizons in order to achieve more growth and prosperity for the two brotherly countries and peoples.”
