AFP.. Houthi militia admits killing about 15,000 of its fighters in Ma’rib battles during five months

The Houthi militia of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards has acknowledged the killing of nearly fifteen thousand of its fighters in recent months in the ongoing battles in the Marib Governorate.

And the agency quoted “AFP”, “two officials in the Ministry of Defense of the Houthis”, as saying that “about 14,700 (Houthis) rebels have been killed in the battles in the Ma’rib region since June.”

The Houthi militia has been fighting battles with government forces for nearly two years in an attempt to control the strategic city of Marib, and the militia has suffered heavy losses in lives.

On the other hand, Agence France-Presse said that about 1,250 pro-government forces were killed in the same period.

The battles have displaced more than 55,000 people from their homes since the beginning of this year, according to the United Nations International Organization for Migration.

The Houthis insist that the Marib battles will continue despite the international community’s attempts to end the war in Yemen and start negotiations to achieve peace.
