England legend Gary Lineker has criticized the Premier League’s decision to award Cristiano Ronaldo’s Player of the Month award for September.
Lineker wrote on his Twitter account: “Ronaldo was wonderful, but Mohamed Salah was deserving of this award, with a comfortable difference.”
And the “Premier League” announced earlier today, Friday, that Manchester United star Ronaldo won the award for the best player for the month of last September, thanks to his scoring 3 goals, the same number of goals scored by Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, Liverpool’s top scorer with his team in the league in the same period.
In addition to Ronaldo and Salah, Antonio Rudiger (Chelsea), Ismaila Sarr (Watford), Evan Toni (Brentford) and Michel Antonio (West Ham United) competed for the award.
Many observers believe that giving the award to Ronaldo is a compliment in the first issue of the award after his return in August (the summer transfer period) to United from Juventus.
