An Omani academic talks about five important political and diplomatic breakthroughs in the region in conjunction with new efforts on Yemen

An Omani academic spoke, this evening, Wednesday, about five important political and diplomatic breakthroughs in the region, in conjunction with new efforts regarding Yemen.

The academic at Sultan Qaboos University, Haider bin Ali Al Lawati, said in a tweet on his account on the micro-blogging site “Twitter”, which was monitored by “The Yemeni Scene”, that “the political and diplomatic breakthroughs that I referred to two months ago, despite their delay, have begun to appear clearly on the horizon: It is a breakthrough.” An Iranian-Saudi détente, a Qatari-Emirati détente, an Egyptian-Turkish détente, a Syrian-Jordanian détente, and perhaps an Iranian-American détente.

He added: All of this was achieved as a result of America’s decline, weakness, and its desire to devote itself to China and Russia.

Al-Wawati had spoken last July about that “next month (meaning August) will witness a new political and geopolitical reality in the region, and with it we will witness rotations by some and revisions by others.

He pointed out that the equations will change, and nothing but correction will benefit with it, neither the channels of sedition nor its mouthpieces will benefit, and we will remind you, and the wise one, by reference!

This comes in conjunction with the arrival of the US envoy to Yemen, Timothy Linderking, this evening to the Omani capital, Muscat, as part of a tour that includes Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, in the context of the ongoing efforts to discuss the Yemeni crisis.

And earlier, Al-Lawati found himself in an embarrassing position after years of comments that included attacks on Saudi Arabia, and support for Hezbollah and Iran, claiming opposition and refusing to normalize with Israel.
