The views of the Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, and Senior Adviser to the Iranian Foreign Minister, regarding the final decision in Yemen, coincided.

In the Iranian capital, Tehran, the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, held consultations with the Senior Adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, “Ali Asghar Khaji”, on “the developments in the Yemeni situation and the various dimensions of the crisis.”

Fars News Agency quoted the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations as confirming that the Yemeni people are the final decision makers.

He pointed out that “the role of the countries of the region is very important in supporting the peace process and considered Iran’s support in this regard as important.”

He stressed that he is “currently evaluating different viewpoints and intends to take into account the concerns of the various Yemeni groups in his future plans, while at the same time pursuing his short priorities within the framework of his long-term goals.”

In turn, the senior adviser to the Iranian Foreign Minister stressed, during the meeting, that “the final decision on the fate of Yemen is in the hands of the people of this country,” referring to its Houthi allies.

Khaji considered that “lifting the unjust siege is a prelude to a solution and a political settlement of the Yemeni crisis.”

He pointed out that “the current lack of confidence is the missing link in the progress of the talks.”

He stressed that “rebuilding confidence must be accompanied by practical measures, especially in the field of humanitarian affairs.”

Khaji said that Iran “reiterates its support for any just effort of the United Nations to resolve the Yemeni crisis.” According to Fars News Agency.

This comes in the context of the continuation of international, American and regional moves to end the war in Yemen despite the escalation of the Houthi rebels.
