Informed sources told “The Yemeni Scene” that Yemeni expatriates in Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain organized special celebrations on the day allotted to them, which falls on the tenth of October.
The sources pointed out that the Yemeni communities in the United States of America, especially the states of Michigan and North Carolina, and the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur, India and China, a number of festive activities and events.
The sources noted that the Yemeni expatriates renewed their determination to promote the development process and support the national economy, and to stand by the country in light of the difficult and exceptional circumstances it is going through.
More than five million Yemeni expatriates live abroad, including about two million expatriates in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; According to unofficial estimates, they contribute to foreign currency transfers to Yemen, whose government is facing great economic difficulties, most notably the collapse of the Yemeni riyal and the suspension of public sector salaries.
