Major General Al-Arada begins new moves and requests urgent international intervention in Marib


The Governor of Ma’rib, Major General Sultan al-Arada, called for urgent international intervention to end the siege imposed by the Houthi militia on the Abdiya district, Marib governorate.

During his meeting, yesterday, Thursday, with the representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Yemen, Renaud Marie Dittal, who is currently visiting the governorate, Al-Arada discussed the latest developments in the human rights situation and the militias’ crimes against the displaced and civilians, the latest of which was the bombing of Al-Rawda neighborhood and the destruction of 12 houses, killing and wounding dozens, most of them of women and children.

Al-Arada also briefed the UN official on the catastrophic humanitarian effects of the militias’ siege on the Abdiya district, since last September 21, exposing 35,000 of its residents to danger and death under bombing, starvation and disease, calling for strong and urgent action by the international community to protect civilians and pressure the militias to open Safe humanitarian corridors and providing the population with basic needs to save their lives.
