Qatari Nasser Al-Attiyah suffers a terrible accident during the Cyprus Rally and his car completely burns

Qatari driver Nasser Al-Attiyah caught fire during the Cyprus International Rally on Saturday, and was forced to withdraw from the fourth round of the Middle East Rally Championship.

Al-Attiyah was in third place behind drivers Simos Galatariotis and Alexandros Tsoloftas at the end of the fifth stage, when his Volkswagen Polo GTI veered off the track and caught fire.

As a result of the accident, it was decided to stop the stage in order to preserve the safety of the participants and in order to put out the fire, so that the competitors return from alternative roads to the maintenance stop and not take the same road.

Al-Attiyah occupies first place in the Middle East Championship with 120 points, ahead of Kuwaiti Mishari Al-Dhafiri, who has 74 points, and was looking forward to achieving the eighth victory in the Cyprus Rally and winning the title for the 17th time in his career.
