Today, Saturday, the legitimate Yemeni government issued decisions to establish new Yemeni reserves, with the aim of preserving the environment and biodiversity in the country.
This came during a meeting of the government, at its headquarters in the temporary capital, Aden, to discuss a number of issues and developments on the national arena in the political, military, security, economic and service aspects.
The Council of Ministers approved announcing the establishment and management of the Azizi Island and Ras Omran Reserve in the Buriqa District, Aden Governorate, based on the decision submitted by the Minister of Water and Environment, Tawfiq Al-Sharjabi.
According to the state agency “Saba”, the total area of the reserve, classified in the sixth category, a multi-purpose resource management reserve, is 39.2 km2, and it aims to achieve the continued survival of natural resources and benefit from them in a sustainable manner and to prevent pollution in all its forms and sources, especially affecting coral reefs, seagrass and turtle pastures. .
The council agreed to announce the establishment and management of the Khor Amira Reserve, Al Mudaraba Ras Al Ara Directorate, Lahij Governorate, which is classified in the sixth category, a multi-purpose resource management reserve, with the aim of preserving the integrity of the environment, biodiversity and sites of special importance and rehabilitating them.
The Council also approved the announcement of the establishment and management of the Farahman Reserve in Hadibo District, Socotra Governorate, and classified in the second category (national park), with a total area of about 11.8 km2.
