Activists circulated a video clip showing the process of rescuing an entire family who was inside a car that was almost swept away by the torrential rains that swept the city of Mukalla in the Hadhramaut governorate, south of Al Yalid, on Wednesday evening.
Eyewitnesses said that a family was stuck in their car in the midst of torrential rains, and it would have been swept away, had it not been for the care of God and the intervention of civil defense men and the people until they were taken out of the car.
Local sources said that the torrential rains that swept Mukalla swept away more than 40 cars, in addition to flooding a number of homes and shops and closing roads.
The city of Mukalla witnessed heavy rain, hours after the meteorological center warned of the weather repercussions of Hurricane Shaheen, despite its fading on land in the Sultanate of Oman.
Meteorologists had warned of the repercussions of Hurricane Shaheen, in a number of southern coastal governorates, where the effects are expected to be transmitted to the rest of the country during the next 48 hours, calling for avoiding torrential streams.
