Yemen’s Deputy Representative to the United Nations, Marwan Noman, stated that the recent attack on the city of Ma’rib killed about 2,000 children who were fighting in the Houthi ranks, noting that the terrorist Houthi militia has recruited 35,000 children since 2014 until now.
He said that the sectarian militia sees in Yemenis, including children, nothing but fuel for its war, pointing out that it uses schools, mosques and summer camps to brainwash at least 60,000 children, train them and send them to the fronts.
Noaman explained at the high-level meeting on the protection of children in armed conflict during the Corona pandemic, which was held under the auspices of the European Union, Belgium and Niger on the sidelines of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York that 17% of child recruits are under the age of 11, while 6,729 children are fighting on the frontlines. Houthis.
Noman warned of the danger of distorting the curricula printed by the coup militia in its areas of control, and the threat that this poses to creating a generation of extremists who do not accept coexistence with other peoples.
He called on the international community to take urgent action to stop the Houthi crimes against children and the Yemeni people, pointing out that they still pose a great danger to children and continue to kill, mutilate, kidnap, sexually abuse and recruit children in its futile war.
