Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, announced this evening, Tuesday, the establishment of the NEOM Industrial City, Oxagon, as the largest floating industrial complex in the world.
He pointed out that the city provides a new model for future manufacturing centers in accordance with NEOM’s strategy of redefining the way humanity lives and works in the future.
He pointed out that the industrial city “Oxagon” will be a catalyst for economic growth and diversification in NEOM in particular and the Kingdom in general, which meets our ambitions to achieve the goals of Vision 2030.
He noted that NEOM Industrial City will contribute to redefining the world’s orientation towards industrial development in the future, along with its contribution to protecting the environment, creating new job opportunities and achieving growth.
He considered that Oxagon will participate in supporting the Kingdom in the field of regional trade, in addition to supporting global trade flows in the region.
He expressed his happiness to see the development and business has already begun on the land of the industrial city, and looks forward to seeing its rapid expansion.
Oxagon occupies a large area in the southwest corner of NEOM, and the primary urban environment is centered around an integrated port and logistics hub.
The city’s unique octagonal design reduces any environmental impacts, as it will provide the best possible use of land, to support NEOM’s approach to preserving 95% of the natural environment.
The city constitutes the largest floating structure in the world and is considered a center for NEOM’s development of the “blue economy” by relying on the seas to achieve sustainable development, which reflects NEOM’s focus on creative and innovative development.
